ENTRY 3_VŨ THỊ THỦY

ENTRY 3
                                                                     Identifying Bias
ITEM 1:
"A shy woman is worth a city, a shy man is worth a goat."
                                                                                         ~Kurdish Proverb

  •   Prejudice
  •   Analysis: Most of people think that the woman can be shy but the man can not. The man have to be strong, not shy. If the man is shy, the man like a goat. In fact, it is negative opinion, everyone has right to show their characteristics.

ITEM 2:

  • Discrimination
  • Analysis:  The police do not let a person who is too ugly in. That is not fair. The police have distinction about appearance.
ITEM 3:
"Poverty is the mother of crime"
                                                                         - Marcus Aurelius-
  • Scapegoating
  • Analysis: This sentence says that poverty is blamed for crime. Many people think that the poor do not have much money, they are ready to do everything to earn money even it is illegal such as stealing, killing somebody...However, it is not true for all the poor. They are not the root of all crime. Rich people still can be crime like the poor.
ITEM 4: Nhầm lẫn cấu trúc giữa từ Hán Việt và từ thuần Việt Trong clip số 47,27/8/2011, GS Xoay và TS Xoáy cho rằng đầu to= thủ đô.
  • Assumption
  • Analysis: This conclusion is wrong knowledge of the facts. In fact, "đầu to" is not mean "thủ đô".

5 nhận xét:

  1. I agree with you up to these items. However you should pay a little attention to grammar
in item 1: Most people - or most of the people
in item 2: A policeman/ police officer does not let.... (because the police often is plural form and often shows a group of policemen), I'm not sure, this word is confusing=.=
in item 4: does not mean, not 'is'
    Anyway, I like your entry

  2. In item 4, I think you should insert the clip in order that all the classmates can easily watch and clearly understand more. Moreover, there are some mistakes in your gramma such as "doesnt mean", not"is not mean", "the man is like a goat" not "the man like a goat",

  3. In item 3, it can't be scapegoating because "poverty" is not a specific person. It is only a social phenomenon so the type of bias here should be prejudice

  4. - I don't agree with Que's opinion. "poverty' means the poor- a group, so I agree with Thuy that the bias type in item 3 is scapegoating
    - Your analysis in item 3 is not clear. I suppose that you are reporting the cartoon, not analysis

  5. The content which you provide in item 4 is insufficient to consider as an assumption. I do not see any limited knowledge of the fact. It is only the wrong conclusion. I think you should add the knowledge which was misconceived.
