Music, when soft voices die[1]

Music, when soft voices die,
Vibrates in the memory,
Odours, when sweet violets sicken,
Live within the sense they quicken.

Rose leaves, when the rose is dead,
Are heaped for the beloved's bed;
And so thy thoughts, when thou art gone,
Love itself shall slumber on.

Rhetorical devices:

1. Rhyme (terminal rhyme):  sicken – quicken; dead – bed; gone – on
2. Symbol: rose means love

Message:

When the art goes away, its breathtaking beauty is still exists in our life, may be in a different manifestation but it is still gorgeous, memorable and meaningful

2. Repetition:

The musician repeats the word and phrase “come from” and “rock”

I'm kind of like you
You kind of like me

The musician repeats the structure “kind of like”

3. Parallelism:

Friday, we're cool

Monday, we're freaks

Sometimes we rule

Sometimes we can't even speak

In this verse, the author also uses repetition the structure “We’re + Adj” and “sometimes we + V”

We're so good moment momentary

5. Rhyme

In the chorus: ordinary – legendary; team – dream

Message:

Friendship is worth, friends may have a good time together or quarrel, but they are still true friends of each other. And a true friend is someone who is always side by side and make a perfect team with their friends.

Rhetorical devices:

1. Irony:

There are more and more people who are addicted to being online. The bird who is also on-line doesn’t understand why they feel so great. The difference between “online” and “on-line” makes the picture so funny.

2. Rhetorical question:

What’s great about being on-line?  

Message: 

Being online and surfing the Internet is not really exciting because you will be still alone, virtual world on the internet makes your life lonely and dull
