ENTRY 4
Argument Structures and Fallacies

ITEM 1:
If I make an exception for you then I have to make an exception for everyone

-      Slippery slope (fallacy of presumption)
-      Analising:
If I make an exception for you
(Hidden premise: I have to make an exception for another person and many other people else)
  =>I have to make an exception for everyone

ITEM 2

-      Appeal to traditions ( Fallacy of relevance)
-      Analising: appealing to the tradition that gays are not allowed to marry each other

ITEM 3

-      Post-hoc fallacy
-      Form:
Having vaccine  preceded developing autism
=>the vaccine caused autism

  1. Item 1: It's not slippery slope. It has only 1 hidden premise: everyone is equal
    i make exception for a person
    everyone is equal

    I have to make exception for everyone

  2. The hidden premise of item 1 is that everybody is equal, I think

  3. In the first item, i think it should have another hidden premise that all other people ask me for an exception like you.

  4. In the 2nd item, I think that you shouldn't strongly claim that gays are not allowed to marry each other appealing to traditions because it is not shown clearly here. two gays just complain that why they can't get married and be happy without showing the reasons why they can't. And in the newspaper,there is only 1 sentence "everything but marriage" without any reasons, too. So I think it's not enough evidence for you to claim that it is fallacy of relevance (appeal to traditions)

  5. Item 1: I agree with Xuan. Your item is not clear to prove it is slippery slope.
    Item 3: You should write argument fallacy:
    My son had his vaccine and he developed autism.
    The action that he had vaccine preceded his autism.
    The preceding action is the cause of the following one.
    ->Having vaccine makes hem autism

  6. Item 1: the hidden premise should be "everyone is equal" thus it can be conclude slippery slope.
    item 2: i think this picture is not enough to conclude it's appeal to tradition because there is lack of evidence to show that homosexual marriage is in opposition with tradition. there just only 2 gays complaint about how could this things happen to them

  7. I have comment about your items:
    Item 1: There are no slippery slope here.
    Item 3: you should analysis clearly
