Slippery slope

 

You should never gamble. Once you start gambling you find it hard to stop. Soon you are spending all your money on gambling, and eventually you will turn to crime to support your earnings

(Hidden premise: You become addicted to gambling)

 

You find it hard to stop

 

(Hidden premise: You need money to continue playing gambling)

 

You are spending all your money on gambling

 

(Hidden premise: you have not enough money to play and live)

 

You will turn to crime to support your earnings

False Dilemma

Yêu cầu khó thực hiện

Cô gái vào hiệu ảnh nói: "Anh chụp cho tôi 1 tấm ảnh chân dung vừa đẹp vừa chân thật".

Người chụp ảnh lưỡng lự nhìn cô gái rồi nói:

- Ở trường hợp của cô chỉ nên chọn 1 trong hai điều đó thôi.

Analysis: The photographer gives the girl 2 choices either "beautiful" or "real" photo, so the girl has to face a dilemma. Actually, she can choose to leave and doesn't take any photo there. Or in other case, she can take more than one photo, some are beautiful (unreal) and the others are real (ugly).

So that is FALSE DILEMMA

Analysis:

Denying the antecedent

If you drink Pepsi, you will make a difference

If A, then B

You don’t drink Pepsi

Not A,

You will not have any differences

Therefore, not B

 

If you drink Pepsi, you will make a difference. This means that you will be outstanding and cool among normal people.

If you do not drink Pepsi, you will not have any differences.

However, you can make a difference by many other ways, probably not like this.
